Rules / Shroud
September 04, 2012, 10:22:47 PM
I tried searching for my answer prior to posting. If I over looked it sorry.

Simple question. Is shroud a time stamp o a creature? If it's the last thing given, everything else prior still stays on, correct?

Thanks BJ. Appreciate your time.
Was a pretty interesting idea that popped up when playing EDH.

Yeah, just wasn't sure how copying off off the flashback functioned.

Rules / Copying spells

Just to make sure I understand. If you pay an additional cost for an better effect (ex. kicker/flashback for the increasing cards).
you copy the improved effect right?
Ex. Cast {Sadistic Sacrament} for kicker then flashback {Increasing Vengence}, if you {Reverbrate} the Increasing Vengence, do you get the two additional copies of a target spell?

So with just the above and how I think it'd work, 75 cards total could be chosen to exile?

And lastly, would that trigger an infinite combo? Just thought of the possibility... Because if you copy the flashbacked Increasing vengence, you'd get two coppies to re copy twice, into four extra copies, etc?

And maybe I'm completely wrong and making no sense. It's what I get for being up for so long.

Does the same rule apply if you were to dual cast a {sleep} on one turn. The creature's wouldn't untap for two upkeeps?

Rules / Combat Declaration and Spells
July 27, 2012, 04:58:27 PM
Presume I declare an attacker without flying, and my opponent declare a blocker without flying. If I instant speed give my creature flying (because of it being combat step) will it deal combat damage to the player, or be pointless because a blocker was already declared and damage is still delt between the two?
My guess is that I would have to cast it as I declare my attackers, before the defenders step. Yes?

For the purpose of doubling life gain, yes. Each is a seperate trigger on the stack. Thus 5 life gain would become 20 (5x2x2).

I hold no authority to say resolved. Prone to human error.

Sovereigns of Lost Alara

The enchantment that comes in bypasses shroud because it's a triggered ability effect and not cast from a hand, correct?

Exactly. They draw a card, returning your top to the top of your library, and your natralize fizzles.

All red mana is used =) No blue, cause i'm not using tap/untap ability. Tapping for dual cast enchant.

I'm pretty sure even with mana burn from back in the day that mana emptie after each step. It just doesnt "burn" you anymore.
You used to be able to float mana from step-to-step, until the end of the phase.  I don't remember when that changed, though.
I believe it changed with M10 Core Set/Alara Block?

If I'm not mistaken. You should be able to infinite combo off this idea. Two {Captain of the Mists} each with a {Dual Casting}, cast {Thatcher Revolt} and stack {Battle Hymn}, tap down both your Captains to copy Revolt first, followed by Hymn, because the trigger of them untapping allows you to re tap with the gained mana. Thus you are able to re tap down your captain as muc as you want. Gaining infinite 1/1's with haste as well as red mana. Mill out someone with the new artifact in M13 or hard cast Bonfire of the Damned for lolz.

Unless I'm sorely mistaken by the concept of the time/stack. Thats the deck I use for funsies.

When the creature returns from cloudshift, it's treated as a brand new creature. Forgetting everything happening to it before it left. New timestamp and all that jazz. Only thing that can still effect it is global effects still on the stack needing to be resolved.
