They do not gain life
They exchange life totals

Thefluffymacheen is correct. When your life total changes you are deemed to have gained or lost life to get to your new life total. I don't have time to search for the actual rule right now, but I know it to be the case as I got a question wrong on my first rules advisor test because I assumed it was different.

This is basically a pauper deck with fetchlands. Have a look at the Blistering Rage deck on www.mtggoldfish.com for some great ideas for this kind of deck in modern.

I believe {Yawgmoth's will} and {brainstorm} have long been considered in direct competition with each other for the 10th most powerful card.

Deck thinning is a myth. Well technically it is a thing, but at such a small percentage that it is negligible. If you value the shuffle effect and landfall triggers then it might be worthwhile in the right mono coloured deck. Otherwise it is pretty much a waste of life. Or more importantly, a waste of money.

And why on earth would you want to see scg pricing? They are overpriced at the best of times, and tcg player gives you so much more information.

That deck looks super awesome. The only other change I would recommend is very minor, but use {pyroblast} instead of red elemental blast, or have the split favouring pyroblast at least. Worst case scenario you can still cast it to trigger prowess even if there are no valid targets on your opponents side of the board.

And I know you have great selection in this deck, but you absolutely have to be making your land drops
20 is not enough. You can get by with 21 if you are playing 4 x ponder, otherwise you really do need 22

I have personally found nahiri underwhelming, but muggy is right, 4 x entreat is WAY too much, and to be honest, 3 x mentor probably is too. You could drop 1 x mentor, 2 x entreat (or move 1 to the sideboard) and probably even 1 x snapcaster too, as you see so many cards. That could free up some room for a couple more counter spells, or maybe even a {council's judgment}

It could be in the right meta. But generally speaking your best burn spells need to be dealing 3 damage for 1 mana, or 4 damage for 2 mana. Firecraft doesn't quite fit the bill, so only include it main board if the spell mastery ability is very important. Generally speaking, it isn't

Well, you can nuke their graveyard in response then counter it .... but that isn't always the easiest thing to do

It doesn't actually do anything. You can only cast it at sorcery speed and they can just tap the top in response. Plus it needs to be a really good card to be in the deck and not do any damage. I just think that spot can be used better that's all.

Then it looks like you are set to go. Your deck is pretty solid. Just gotta play heaps now to get a feel for any potential improvements.

I still don't think {ingot chewer} is necessary though. Might be able to make room there for {exquisite firecraft}.

You may choose an Eldrazi card you own from outside the game or in exile, reveal that card, and put it into your hand.

A little something for {U} Tron maybe

Omg that's so legit
Tutor your win cons depending the deck your opponent is playing
Could it potentially let you run 8 of any eldrazi? Say, 4 {Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger} in the game and 4 out of it?

For competitive play, 'outside the game' means your sideboard, so you can still only have 4 copies between your main deck and sideboard.

When I said {exquisite firecraft} I meant in the sideboard, and I just noticed you don't have any {skullcrack}. If you think there is any chance that you will come up against lifegain in any way, shape or form then you really should include a couple of those in your sideboard.
