Rules / Casting and Countering
October 10, 2013, 11:27:26 AM
This came up during a game I was playing with a friend. If a spell is countered, does it still count as being cast at all? He had out a  {Guttersnipe} which deals damage when certain spells are cast. I countered a spell with a {Negate}. Does Guttersnipe still deal damage? I guess the question could be reduced to: is a spell considered "cast" as soon as it leaves the players hand, or does it need to resolve?

Rules / Mutavault as a creature.

I'm a bit confused by how {Mutavault} functions. It says that it becomes a 2/2 with all creature types but is still a land. Does this mean that it can be the target of spells that deal damage to creatures? If it dies as a creature, is the land destroyed as well?

Rules / Does "a graveyard" mean any graveyard?

Some cards have an ability that might, for example, read "Exile target card from a graveyard." Does this mean that it can be your own or your opponent's graveyard?
