Rules / Re: Astral slide + unearth

It will come back.  Unearth only exiles due to it's own ability if the creature would go anywhere /except/ exile.  This is the same interaction that made {Obzedat, Ghost Council} so good with {Whip of Erebos}

{trinisphere}

Trini doesn't change anything with how Teeg looks at spells.  It just adds extra required payment, but doesn't change the Converted Mana Cost of the spell, which is what Teeg cares about.

Yup. Only thing that can be played is creature cmc 4 or more

Nitpick: They can still cast their CMC 1-3 spells (and 0-cost spells!), the Chalices will just have to do their thing.

Rules / Re: Zada Partisan Expedited
April 25, 2016, 09:37:16 AM
To elaborate, here's what happens:

You cast your Expedite targeting Zada.
She triggers.

When you resolve her trigger, you make three more copies targeting your Partisan and two tokens, triggering Partisan three times.
When those triggers resolve, you'll have three extra tokens, but still only copies of Expedite targeting the original wolves.

Almost.

I believe it is actually

- Announce your intention to play the purge
- Place purge on the stack
- Announce the pact as the target
- Pay costs (including sacrificing the pact)
- Opponent gets priority.
- If nothing else goes on the stack the purge fizzles
- Purge goes to graveyard.
- Active player gets priority again with an empty stack

This is correct.  Because targets are chosen before costs are calculated and payed (because things like {Elderwood Scion} or {Monastery Siege} will make it more expensive when it's calculated), you can almost always sacrifice what you're deciding to target.  I sometimes loop Bojuka Bog using Dust Bowl by targeting the Bog and Sacing it if my opponent has no non-basics.

Rules / Re: Such investigates

No.  Your extra investigation trigger can't resolve until the current object on the stack that is causing the first investigation finishes resolving.  This is because it's a trigger and not a replacement.  If it said "If you would investigate for the first time each turn, investigate twice instead", then we'd have some awesome synergy. But we don't.

{Pyromancer's Goggles}, of all things, thanks to Todd Anderson doing well with UR control.

{Tireless Tracker} is also just an insane card.

You don't care about the mana, unless you're going some strange UB Tezz route where you also play {Krark-Clan Ironworks}.  You just do it as much as you need to and stomp out aggro and damage-based decks with your advantage, and murder planeswalkers and control players with your 1/1s.

{Eye of Ugin} has plummeted across the board,  SCG, of all people, has it listed down at $8.
Foundry, Sword and Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas appear to pretty much be sold out everywhere.

Blue tron escapes with less damage than rg tron. Blue tron is still very bad.

At least you still have Sanctum of Ugin.  Nowhere near as powerful, but can fill the same role.  Eye wasn't exactly healthy in Tron to begin with.  It allows it to be the only deck that truly shines in the late game since you can find threats every turn, even when that's where Control is supposed to take over everything.  With the banning of Tron and the unbanning of Vision and Sword, control can at least exist again in some capacity.

Rules / Re: Madness
March 30, 2016, 08:40:39 AM
You got it, man!

And if you discard it as part of the RESOLUTION of a spell or ability instead of part of the cost, the Madness trigger won't resolve until after the effect that caused you to discard it finishes resolving.  This is why if you discard a card to {Jace, Vryn's Prodigy} that /would/ be the fifth card, he won't flip.  The card with madness is still floating in exile when his ability checks the number of cards in your graveyard.

Also note that discarding to exile is now mandatory with the new rules update.

QuoteNote that the mandatory discard into Exile is a small change from previous rules. Before, you could discard a card with madness into your graveyard and skip the whole madness thing. This may be relevant with cards like Jace, Vryn's Prodigy. That dude shows up a lot in this article for a card not in this set.
from Matt Tabak's rules update article

You discard it to exile, then when the trigger resolves you choose whether to cast it or put it into your graveyard.

Would the same apply if there was an  {Aegis Angel} giving the  {Veteran Warleader} Indestructible?

If you control the Angel and the Warleader and your opponent casts, say, {Blasphemous Act}, it's the same sort of situation.

B.Act deals 13 to each creature
SBAs kill the Angel for having taken Lethal Damage.
Because Indestructible doesn't make damage not be marked (it just makes Lethal Damage not do anything) and your Warleader is no longer indestructible, SBA kill it for having taken lethal damage.

What will happen is this:

Radiant Flames deals 3 damage to each creature.
State-Based Actions see four 2/2 creatures with 3 damage marked on them, and destroys them as a result.
State-Based Actions are checked again and sees the now 1/1 Warleader with 3 damage marked and destroys it, too.
