Rules / Re: Zhur taa Druid tapping
June 12, 2013, 11:21:24 PM
I replaced my  {Birds of Paradise} cards for the  {Zhur-Taa Druid} and they work surprisingly well. I miss choosing any color but in a red and green deck it has added a lot of extra free damage, even on turns when I didn't need the mana I would use it on the opponents end phase.

I used to miss mana burn too, but I don't miss everyone killing themselves with it to give up.

Giving a {stromkirk noble} double strike and no blockers would he get 2 counters or still just one?

2 counters. Each strike is done separately.

If your creature grew bigger then a 1/1...

If you give it double strike and they block with say a 1/1... The first strike would kill the creature, the second strike to the player. Giving you 1 counter.

You could go one step further even and say you gave it trample. The first strike will kill the 1/1, then damage the player giving you a counter. Then the second strike would give you a second.

Well if they declare a blocker even with double strike the second damage wouldn't go through without trample resulting in no counters that way but yeah it does sound right if no blockers declared to get 2

Thanks for pointing that out. Here is the rule to add to the thread as well..

If all the blocking creatures are killed in the first damage step, the creature with double strike won't deal damage during the second damage step.

I've never really played with him. Can you make the other players creatures attack their own controller?

Or is there some sort of rule that says you can not attack yourself?

I guess that also brings up, would there be a difference between controlling their turn and attacking them with their own stuff vs. just attacking yourself?

When  {Cathars' Crusade} is on the battlefield and something causes multiple creatures to enter the battlefield at the same time,  {Hero of Bladehold}, does each creature get a +1 from eachother?  Or a +1 from itself? Would this produce two 3/3 tokens?

Yes they would get +1 counters. The two abilities go on the stack, and the stack must resolve before the combat can resolve.

Should of added this.

The other player is  {Butcher of Malakir} . I want to flash in  {Seht's Tiger} to not be "targeted". Does this work?

Hey guys,

Your answers do help.

In my particular situation the card was opponents Sacrafice a creature. So the cat would not stop it then?

Rules / Protection from Sacrafice?
June 07, 2013, 03:34:09 PM
Hey guys,

If a player plays a spell or ability that makes opponents Sacrafice a creature, can that be prevented by me ( an opponent ) giving myself protection from the color of that originating spell or ability.

Also, would spells or abilities work different?

I am using  {Seht's Tiger} to gain protection.

Assuming you are talking about modern, It was too aggressive for the format. A 3/3 attacking on turn 2 is pretty powerful. Wizards has been banning a fairly large amount of cards in modern, consistently shutting down whichever deck they feel is too strong. It's very annoying.

Makes sense. I just use her in casual for the most part. A great card in my opinion. :)

If I have  {Varolz, the Scar-Striped} out and a creature with scavenge in the graveyard, like  {Dreg Mangler}, how much do I pay to scavenge?

Your  {Dreg Mangler} would have two different scavenge abilities on him, you could technically choose to initiate either one. I would opt for the lower cost one that your  {Varolz, the Scar-Striped} is providing you with.

Rules / Why is Wild Nacatl banned in standard?

So I just built a cat deck and my friend told me my  {Wild Nacatl} is a banned card in standard format. This won't stop me from using her, but can anyone explain why? Is there some combo I am not aware of?

There are much more threatening cards then a one drop with...

Wild Nacatl gets +1/+1 as long as you control a Mountain.
Wild Nacatl gets +1/+1 as long as you control a Plains.

That's right, activated abilities are not considered spells.

Cancel only targets spells. As mentioned above.

You are correct. We should have specifically mentioned for a situation like that, the player gets to choose what order the activated abilities would trigger.

Good call! :)

I have  {Legion's Initiative} in play. After my combat, I activated it for some reason. When it is my opponent's combat, my creatures should be back.

Now say if I have  {Court Street Denizen} along with other white creatures. Would I still be in time to tap my opponent's creature(s) since legion would bring my creatures "at the beginning of the next combat", which is before declaring attackers - would the triggers be given priority to resolve, thus giving me a chance to tap?

Yes. You have it right. As long as you make sure to not use {Legion's Initiative} during your main phase, as then its ability would could kick during your combat step (as it is the next). Use the ability during your second main phase.

Nice combo!
