Are you referring to assigning lethal damage to blocking creatures from a creature with trample? If you are, then it's treated as blocked by a 0/0 creature or as if there was a blocking creature that died before damage. All damage from a creature with trample "blocked" by curtain of light will still be assigned to the defending player/planeswalker.

can I "forget" triggers while i can control them, like untaping and drawing? What exactly can/can't i do?

Also keep in mind that neither untapping nor drawing on your respective steps are triggers.
