I was thinking about posting and then realized I didn't know what to say lol. Anyway, I couldsee this being pretty crazy in a life gain deck. But I could see that restricting it from being to $$$$. It wouldn't fare so well outside of life gain.
I like the idea of T2 {White Sun Passage} (I think that is what it's called) and t3 2-3 {Living Ghost}

GoJu has a point, the ETB would have to be it's savior.
My first thought that it would be a continuos effect but now I think the one time effect is much better. And I do like it better as a 0\1
I like the 0/1 more because you can play him as a chump blocker if you are in a tight situation below starting life.
I think the ETB is better because I could see him being a bit broken with a continuous effect. It would be like the old Ajani's ultimate for 1 {W} almost.
I likes the continuous effect...but maybe that would be better as an equipment or something.

I would replace white sun's passage with {Auriok Champion}...she would net you waay more like for 2 mana. Way more. And I would add (one of my fav spells of all time...) {Alliance of Arms}!!
In a 3 player match:
Me with 3 life dorks out: "I'll play {Alliance of Arms} and pay 4 mana for X.
Bob: I'll pay nothing.
Joe: I will also pay nothing.
Me: okay I still gain 36 life for 5 mana...SUCK IT!!
