I want to build an a mono-white equipment deck with Kemba, Kha Regent as my commander. Can I use Elbrus, the Binding Blade? It starts as a colorless but does flip to black so I'm thinking probably not. If not, suggestions for a new commander?

Acually you can use it. The card starts as an artifact, with colorless mana, and when it transforms it is black but has no colored mana symbols on it. Making it fair game
903.4. The Commander variant uses color identity to determine what cards can be in a deck with a certain commander. The color identity of a card is the color or colors of any mana symbols in that card's mana cost or rules text, plus any colors defined by its characteristic-defining abilities (see rule 604.3) or color indicator (see rule 204).
903.4c The back face of a double-faced card (see rule 711) is included when determining a card's color identity.

You can't use it.
You can't use {Civilized Scholar} in a mono-{U} EDH deck either.

Well at the same time EDH is primarily casual, so if your local group is ok with you using the equipment then it's ok lol
@jester, he usually doesn't miss things like this. He's a high enough ranking judge to judge at grand Prix's so I don't know what he was thinking. Yes I do, he was prob trying to see if he could get away with it.
