Does {Unmake} send a commander back to the command zone or does it get rid of it for good?
Back to the zone.
...if you choose. If your commander is sent to exile, you may choose to leave him there.
{hinder}, {spin into myth}, {banishing stroke}, {terminus}... There are lots of ways to do the trick ;) but exile is not one of them, I'm afraid.
Ok, I'm new to commander. If your commander is sent to the library, it goes to the library and not back to the commander zone?

Correct. You can only return your commander to the command zone when it dies or is exiled, and even then it is your choice (you may have him/her go to exile or graveyard as normal if you so choose).
Effects that send your commander to the library or to the hand cannot be replaced by sending it to the command zone.

Would you pay the normal cards casting cost or the boosted cost if it was in your hand?
normal
What about {AWOL}? Lol

Haha interesting question. Technically it can't be used, because un-sets are illegal in any play but casual (and un-set block).
But in a casual commander game, if you played with friends and allowed that card into the deck...I really don't know how you would approach that :P
You have to wait for full resolution of {AWOL}. Much like you have to wait forthe full resolution of {faithless looting} with a miracle
The action of moving the Commander to the command zone instead of the gy or exile is a replacement effect. Replacement effects can replace one thing for another even as a spell or ability is resolving (it kinda has to, if you think about it 😁).
A player may have their guy go to the command zone after the first part, then {AWOL} loses track for the second part.
As confirmed as an Unhinged card can be. 😜
