Title: U/G Milling myself
Post by: Renegade on July 29, 2012, 02:31:53 PM
7  {Forest}
5   {Island}
4  {Woodland Cemetary}
4  {Cavern of souls}
20 Lands

4  {Armored Skaab}
4  {Avacyn's Pilgrim}
4  {Boneyard Wurm}
4  {Deranged Assistant}
4  {Kessig Cagebreakers}
4  {Splinterfright}
24 creatures

4  {Dream Twist}
2  {Gnaw to the Bone}
4  {Mulch}
1  {Sever the Bloodline}
3  {Spider Spawning}
2  {Unburial Rites}
16 other spells

Sideboard
1  {Creeping Renaissance}
2  {Gnaw to the Bone}
2  {Laboratory Maniac}
4  {Naturalize}
2  {Ranger's Guile}
3  {Sever the Bloodline}
1  {Spider Spawning}
15 sideboard cards

This was a deck posted a while back on wizards. I figured with the new sets that I would get opinions on what to add or take out to make this a FNM deck.

I took out the 4 {Shimmering Grotto} and replaced them with the {Cavern of souls} but I may take those out because of how expensive they are to get and put in a few dual lands such as {Hinterland Harbor} back into the deck.

I want to get into standard tournament play and I playtested this deck and won consistently with it.

Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks.

You've won with this consistently? Against what?

Not trying to rain on the party but I used to play this deck and it gets murdered by any sort of Aggro. I even played with some {ghoul tree} and get them out t3-4 earliest. I liked {merfolk looter} there is also {jaces archivist}

I also found that {trackers instinct} works great in this deck since its cheap and has flashback.

I consistently won against other casual decks. Nothing very competitive.

I've been thinking of popular decks and what I could add to counter them or just flat out beat them. I'm just wanting ideas to keep this deck competitive.

If this deck is not worth pursuing then I need to figure out something that is competitive and easy to get. I'd like to not spend 300 for a deck.

Right on. This deck doesn't work competitively like it should. {tormods crypt} {nihil spell bomb} are both standard and are in a couple sideboards here and there...they just wreck this deck.
