Title: Standard goblins
Post by: Aladormax on July 27, 2012, 12:07:41 PM
Does anyone know how goblins are doing in standard now? Also what are the staples for the deck.

they're doing poorly. staples would be {goblin grenade} {goblin chieftan} {krenko mob boss} etc.

Ouch, I was trying to bring them to fnm tonight and just wanted to see what was up... Ah well I never win anyways so might as well have some fun losing.

Btw how is RDW doing as it seems more viable now too.

it's a high tier 2/low tier 1 deck. it's only draw back is it is easy to sideboard against and midrange cards like {lingering souls} hinder it big time.

Yeah, they have some potential but just don't see any play, and can't stand up to current top tier decks. I'd say they might have potential after the Sept rotation, but {Goblin Chieftan}, {Goblin Grenade} and {Goblin Wardriver} will all be rotating out too.

Krenko sure is fun to mess around with though.

I blame the absence of Goblins in Innistrad.

-Capt. Obvious.  ;)

R2R may give some quality moggs.  Or not.  *shrug*

i don't doubt that it will but we'll be losing an equal amount of goblins from both m12 and scars block. and there still remains innistrad being goblinless.

You'll probably be pushed toward a "two-tone" goblin deck in Rav block.

Fixed. I feel your pain, thanks for the correction. (Note I said Capt Obvious, not Capt Good-Speller 😂).
