I don't know if anyone has noticed, but iMtG in the App Store now requires your device to be running iOS 4.3 or newer. This iOS 4.3 version is only available to the iPad, and iOS 5 does not support iPod 2G and iPhone 3G or older devices. The newest version of iOS these devices can use is 4.2.1. I guess Apple thinks its own 3 year old devices are now obsolete.
Right now the only option is for me and other users to install custom iOS 5 firmwares like Whited00r, which I'm hoping will allow me to install this app.
A low-requirements iMTG may be on the way. About iOS 4.3, it is available for 3rd gen ipods and iPhone 3GS or newer(maybe iPhone 3G also supports it, but I think not. Yes, jailbreak solutions may be a way. No, apple doesn't think their 3 year old devices are obsolete. They simply want you to expend money on new ones for not allowing iPhone 3G to have iOS 5 (which adds some nice things). Older devices (including iPod 2nd gen) don't have the hardware required to fully support iOS 5 without some lags
Alright. Well, turns out whited00r is just 3.1.3 with iOS 5 features, so the only chance for us with older devices is for a low-req version. I'm really hoping this will happen, as this app is the best out there, and not being able to use it is torture.
Try to find it in your "purchased" apps. When I couldn't find it in my iPad appstore because of camera lack, I could find and download under the purchased apps section
The jury is out on this one. Don't hold your breath, I'm struggling to make iMtG a sustainable business and at this stage diverting my resources to support old hardware is not gonna help.
If anything, it's gonna get worse in the short term as 3.0 is the next version and it's not gonna work on pre 5.0 iOS.
You should at least the old low-requirements version available to download, as many people still use old devices. Just don't mess with it, put in description something like "pre iOS 4.3 version of iMTG, no longer has support to it, won't update anymore". This might help you having more users(which means free advertisement as people who use your app like to tell friends how amazing it is)
Sorry, I was scrolling through the forum and saw I missed the announcement of the discontinuation.
Is there any chance you could at least upload the latest iOS 4 working ipa to a website? I could then be able to add it via iTunes and sync it with my iPod. As of now there is no way for me to download previous versions.
ipa won't work unless your device id is hard coded in it. That's how Apple enforces distribution via their store.

Jailbreak, baby
Not gonna happen.
