You need 4 {silver inlaid daggers} given the human double strike and human unblockable.....which reminds me put 4 {invisible stalker} and drop all the defensive equipments IMO.  Add 4 {auriok edgeright} or at least 2.....notice he is human too :)

How do you feel about {auriok sunchaser}? Pretty good effect too

Post by: cltrn81 on December 16, 2011, 08:45:58 AM
I like the double strike and the synergy with the Sword but you could use some flying in this deck.....you could achieve some flyers with {ornithopter} instead of {memnite}.....he may not be standard tho I know it was in M11 and Mirrodin
Title: Re: Bluesteel
Post by: BlackJester on December 16, 2011, 11:44:05 AM
{Memnite} is the latest {Ornithopter}. At least in Standard.

Now is there a point to having the crusaders in there if I have the edgewrights? They both have the double strike and in testing the crusaders never even get
Title: Re: Bluesteel
Post by: Validan on December 16, 2011, 11:59:49 PM
*played because the edgewrights are doing all the attacking

I think the protection from 40% of the colors is pretty important. Especially with zombies being so popular.

You forgot {Moorland Haunt}.

I'll post en edited version later today when I have a chance it has the haunt

I am eager to see the updated list; I really like this deck and see a lot of potential.

I hope this doesn't disappoint, in order to compensate for so many awesome creatures I had to place slightly smaller numbers in. The cleavers are until I get some more swords unless I find that I like playing with them in. And I'm also curious to know if putting a lot of 3 of's in here is a bad idea rather than cutting cards and going to 4

Bluesteel

60 cards

4 {Seachrome Coast}
4 {Glacial Fortress}
2 {Island}
1 {Moorland Haunt}
11 {Plains}

22 lands

3 {Mirran Crusader}
2 {Trinket Mage}
3 {Invisible Stalker}
2 {Auriok Edgewright}
2 {Geist of Saint Traft}
4 {Puresteel Paladin}
4 {Memnite}

20 creatures

3 {Oblivion Ring}
3 {Mana Leak}
2 {Sword of War and Peace}
4 {Flayer Husk}
2 {Butcher's Cleaver}
4 {Silver-Inlaid Dagger}

18 other spells

I'm also bidding on a couple mix opals on eBay lol so they will be added into the list somehow

For your equipment, what about {Mortarpod}?

I've never used it but forums online were saying that it's pointless because of the loss of some death touch equipment...can't remember the name

{Basilisk Collar}.

Anyways, with {Geistflame} still around, we still need to kill {Inkmoth Nexis}.

{inquisitor flail} would be nice on a pumped up {invisible stalker} or {mirran crusader} against a green or black deck
Title: Re: Bluesteel
Post by: Validan on December 17, 2011, 02:32:08 PM
Okay so I'll grab some {mortarpods} then hehe and that flail sounds good too
Title: Re: Bluesteel
Post by: cltrn81 on December 18, 2011, 08:30:56 AM
It occurred to me that {etched champions} would be a good fit in this deck.
Title: Re: Bluesteel
Post by: Validan on December 18, 2011, 09:14:06 AM
Yeah he would be good too, I was also wondering if there was any ideas for {signal pest} instead of {memnite}

That proly is a better choice given he has more benefit and only costs 1 mana
Title: Re: Bluesteel

Yeah I just. Pulsing figure out what the point of {memnite} would be besides getting metalcraft

The memnites are better if you're going for sheer speed. A 1/1 for free is crazy!  But, battle cry ability can close mid-to-late games.

So should I throw in two of each or just the {signal pests}? I heard that puresteel decks  have to prepare everything before the win rather than attacking fast I'm still getting used to it but it seems fast either way

I like the Pests because they have evasion, plus be pumped with equipment.

And by that, I mean I agree.
Title: Re: Bluesteel

Yeah I like that I can put a sword on them and with the evasion they already have it makes them better than the memnite
Title: Re: Bluesteel
Post by: cltrn81 on December 18, 2011, 01:54:52 PM
They fit better with the semi-unblockable theme going on and they still help with metalcraft......I am going to build my own version of this deck :)
Title: Re: Bluesteel

I'm sure yours will be better lol
Title: Re: Bluesteel
Post by: Validan on December 18, 2011, 06:19:59 PM
I really like where the deck is right now it feels fast and very hard to block the damage that my creatures are dishing out, not sure yet how I'll work in a flail but I think it would be awesome in this deck.

Looks good....great idea sideboarding the {mortor pod} instead of running it in the deck
Title: Re: Bluesteel

Thanks it seemed like a good solution should I definitely need it
Title: Re: Bluesteel
Post by: Appleguru56 on December 18, 2011, 10:51:37 PM
NO! I regret not posting this earlier. This is a puresteel deck based around equipment and metalcraft. This is not a tempered steel! All of the extra things such as stave off and mox opal are absolutely unnessecary! Now, this deck only runs about 10 equipments, rendering puresteel next to worthless. I will post my own version of this deck.

Oh I see what you're saying, I like your deck list I think I'm going to take out the unnecessary cards but work in {mirran crusader}s I only have the two swords ATM so I still have to buy some more and get my hands on some {batterskull}s, how long does it take to set up when you use this deck anyway?
Title: Re: Bluesteel
Post by: Appleguru56 on December 19, 2011, 12:10:06 AM
This deck actually does a good job setting itself up. With the living weapons, this deck has ready-built creatures already. This deck does not even need puresteel to win most of the time.

{Sword of Feast and Famine}
Get one with the money you were going to use to buy Mox Opals.
Title: Re: Bluesteel

Yeah I think I'm gonna lol and sell off my bladeholds for body and mind and another war and peace...
Title: Re: Bluesteel
Post by: cltrn81 on December 19, 2011, 08:42:42 AM
I do see the advantage.  I would equate it to my {kor spiritdancer} deck.....what I mean is that I would not only put 10 auras in a deck with 4 spiritdancers.....so the same is true for puresteel
Title: Re: Bluesteel
Post by: Validan on December 19, 2011, 09:35:19 AM
Yeah I think I was thinking that I would try to mix in more protection but I didn't even think of how his ability is the point of the deck even though I knew it was X)

Don't get body and mind. The mill will only help your opponent. Get Feast and Famine.

True a lot of people are running self mill, I'll try to get two feast and famine then

Self mill in my opinion should not even be in the metagame, but sword of body and mind is the cheapest sword to buy and the wolf token is worth it. Self mill usually sucks so much that puresteel can go 2-0 without even sideboarding

I had to remove expensive rates for budgeting reasons but got my hands on some mox opals, it still runs pretty smoothly, I'll put in the other opal at some point. I'm also bringing back this thread to help another member
