Title: Spells cost less
Post by: Jroch314 on July 22, 2012, 07:53:48 PM
Ok building an elemental deck for casual play. Got a semi-silly question lol. Say I have lots of elemental warriors in my deck. Does {brighthearth banneret} make them cost {2} less if they are elemental warriors?

Wow that wasn't the answer I expected. Is there maybe an official rule on this? Because logic would lead one to believe that they would overlap, but ik logic doesn't always work in mtg lol

because it is one ability it is only counted once. you would need wording like {grand arbiter augustin iv} to double dip.

same reason why {semblance anvil} with an artifact creature doesn not discount {4} off of artifact creatures.

Yea I understand that. Now rule 702.15g (that makes me feel like a lawyer) states that protection from A and B is shorthand for protection from A and protection from B. I couldn't find a ruling on anything else that states that and I get what you're saying. All the lieges say each color individually. Just clarifying that's all. So I guess the protection from rule doesn't carryover. If it said Elemental spells cost {1} less to play. Warrior spells cost {1} less to play. It would work then??

Sometimes the rules are too vague and the card itself gets a rule clarification.  Check rulings under that card.  It says it only gives a discount of 1.  🔨

If you didn't buck up for rulings in the app, check them on gatherer.

Wow thanks I didn't even know that feature was available on the app. And as always thanks again for the speedy responses.
