Title: Prey Upon questions
Post by: Jdogtoocool on July 21, 2012, 11:43:51 PM
{Prey Upon}

- if I chose an infect creature does it do damage in -1-1 counters to the other creature?

- if I have a creature with trample does it do trample damage or just regular damage?

Edit

-also what if a choose a creature with death touch?

1: it does infect damage.
2: nothing happens
3: deathtouch also effects prey upon.

Say you control a 1/1 deathtouch and they control something bigger. You cast prey upon targeting your 1/1 deathtouch and their creature. Both will die

Confirmed.

All it is is non-combat damage. No combat related abilities (First strike, trample, flying) apply. Other non-combat damage abilities (Deathtouch, lifelink infect) do apply.

Since we're on the topic.

Does death touch only trigger during combat damage? Or am I reading the rule wrong?

Deathtouch applies to any damage. Give {Goblin Sharpshooter} Deathtouch for awesome results.

So.  702.2b. What does that mean?

"Any non-zero COMBAT DAMAGE dealt by a creature with death touch is considered leathal damage"

Read the next one after it:

702.2c A creature with toughness greater than 0 that's been dealt damage by a source with deathtouch since the last time state-based actions were checked is destroyed as a state-based action. See rule 704.

Okay. That's the one I was confused about.

.2b is important when it comes to t Deathtouch and trample. Trample says you need to assign a minimum of lethal damage to a creature and the rest can be assigned to the player. You only need to assign one point of Deathtouch damage and the rest spills over.
