Title: Vexing Devil question
Post by: Jdogtoocool on July 17, 2012, 04:38:04 AM
Ok so say my opponent controls a {witchbane orb} and I cast {vexing devil}, does my vexing devil just go to the graveyard and do zero damage?

Hmmm interesting. I'm gonna go with witchbane has no effect, since Vex doesn't target?
I am curious what the answer is though

You're correct. It never targets. Simalar to a hexproof creature and {Day of Judgement}. Doesn't target, but damage is still dealt.

Thanks that's what I thought, it's good to have portable proof

I think it's the wordin of the text anyways

"any opponent MAY have it deal 4 damage to them"

So even if it said "any target opponent MAY have it deal damage to them" it still wouldn't matter since its that players choice. Or would it be null because the actual targeting?

If it said any target opponent; you couldn't target the opponent with a witchbane out. Thus, the vexing devil would not get sacrificed.

But this is not the case! {Witchbane Orb} does not protect from {Vexing Devil}.
Resolved again. 🔨

Yup that's exactly what I'm asking but I still think the keyword here is choice

Yeah. To answer your question, Sexy Devil never targets. He basically says "I'll leave once someone punches themselves in the face"

Dare I say it? Resolved 🔨

I believe this has been resolved 3 times now with the same answer. Lol. Even with the gavels!
