Title: Value of lands?
Post by: Danielkix on July 16, 2012, 07:05:23 PM
My friend brought me back 4 promo European plains from 1999 that they gave away at comic con, he says they're worth a few bucks. What's a good place to find their value?

These were lands given away for referring friends to Magic. It was a program that Wizards did a long time ago. Check the art - are they from real places? If they are, $25 each?

I tried! There's so many plains. The only place I found was one person selling them for 4.50 on eBay

No, it's this one but eBay prices vary so I wanted to know if there was a place to find more solid prices. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Magic-the-Gathering-MTG-Promo-Euro-PLAINS-United-Kingdom-/110784665171?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19cb47d653

I've found that SCG has a tendency to overprice a little bit. The TCGPlayer prices on here are usually a little more accurate.

I wish I knew that before trading for 2 bonfires for 35$ a pop.

Ouch

My research pulled up $10-$15 for the plains from that promotion. My local shop is one of the largest suppliers in america, but they do mark just a little high because they can. They had the plains at $14 which means they can probably be bought in the range i said.

Remember. Shops need to make money. So they mark up for profit. Usually 80-100%

Depends on the size. Small shops mark up for profit to make ends meet, large supplier shops mark up when stock is low ({thundermaw hellkite} is currently almost forty just because they sold almost or maybe even all of them for now).
