Can I please get an explanation as to why this is better than {Lightning Bolt}.
It just does not make sense to me to le your opponent hit you bak if they are playing red. So unless I'm missing something major (Which I probably am) I do not see the point of this card and why it is sooo much money.
Please explain.
Who ever said that {Chain Lightning} is better than {Lightning Bolt}?

I don't think {chain lightning} is better than {lightning bolt}, but if your opponent decides to copy it back to you, you can copy it back to him, over and over. The reason it's expensive is because its old, and never been reprinted, and you can damage an opponent 3 health for 1 mana, or 6 damage for 3 mana, or 9 damage for 5 mana, or 12 damage for 7 mana etc etc.
Bet it would work great on a {stuffy doll}! ;)
Like they said, it isn't better or worse...
Precisely. Card $ =/= Card Quality
Actually it was reprinted in the Premium foil deck. They still sell for like $10 or so in that set.
{chain lightning} has been reprinted. It was reprinted in fire&lightning.
Chain lightning is a great card. I use it all the time in my sideboard.
Don't forget, {chain lightning} costs {R}{R} to return to sender. So if you are playing against a deck that cannot produce red mana, chain lightning is a simply duplicate of {lightning bolt}, allowing you 8 bolts in your deck (basically).
Nvm. I misspoke. Wrong card. I'm talking the one dealing 3 to a creature and 3 to the creatures owner for {R}

{Lightning Helix}?
Edit: nope, that's something else. What the hell is the name of that card. I do love helix though.

No such card. There is {forked bolt} that lets you split damage. Or {Chandra's outrage} but that is not just {R}
Just looked at my deck. Haha. Was chain lightning, I just mis read it.

Only main drawback of {chain lightning} to {lightning bolt} is that {chain lightning} is a sorcery.
4 x {Lightning Bolt}
4 x {Chain Lighning}

Isn't it odd the best one of the bunch is the cheapest. Supply and demand I suppose.
Like most I assume, I love playing direct damge and I hate playing against direct damage...
The whole "before the end of your turn I {Lightning Bolt} your..."

Yep, recently (M10, M11) printed at common (high supply). Not in Standard (low demand).
You're welcome,

I do love drawing {thunderous wrath} and only paying R to do 5 damage though. Just sayin' :)
