Sorry, but I'm goin to have to call Bombo on this one. Punishing Fire specifically says "Whenever an opponent gains life..." so I doesn't matter if you gain life.

{bazaar trader} the dragons claw haha then it could work but dragons claw also says you may gain life so your opponent could not gain that 1 life do you can't get punishing fire
