If I play a {Phyrexian metamorph} and copy a {phylactery lich} can I put the counter on the metamorph that I just played?

Negatory, good buddy. Negatory.
From the card rules:
If Phylactery Lich and an artifact are entering the battlefield under your control at the same time, you can't put a phylactery counter on that artifact. You must choose an artifact you control that's already on the battlefield.
Edit: However, if you already HAVE a Lich in play to copy, than you must have an arti with that counter, so it checks all permanents for one of those counters. Say you cast four liches and each one puts a counter on a different arti, they'd all be indestructible for as long as any one permanent has a phylactery counter, not just the specific one that lich made.
Dang! Thanks BJ.

Yeah. I'm working on a {phylactery lich} deck. I'll post it in standard later today. Still in sample draw stages. Lol

or {Darksteel Axe} or other Darksteel stuff.
{Shhhtuffy doll}!!!
Or {darksteal relic}
Turn one, swamp, relic, {dark ritual}. Poof! indestructible 5/5
Tragic slip stuffy doll
1 cmc > 5 cmc 😓
For as much as I love Stuffy, you really want something cheaper than the lich to get it out early.
My only problem with the Relic is that is, while it enables other metalcraft and such, does 0 alone. At least the Axe will buff your Liches when they hit play.

Not on t1 though! :D
Still they'd both work almost equally well where the axe gives better usage in the longrun.

Right, but while the OMGAWDAWESUM1STTURNRAWR! factor looks enticing, it's not so likely that it's worth keeping a non-fuctional card for. If you want it in an aggro mono-{B} arti {Cranial Plating} deal, then sure. But frankly IMHO, if you are playing with D.Rits, you have access to far better {0} artis that do stuff. ;)
tl;dr T1: {Vault of Whispers}, {Dark Ritual}, {Phylactery Lich}

Yeah thats true. But for a dubbley wubbley indestructi producti early twirly, axe or relic are the best <3
Dark steel would be good. However, I think you should try this enchantment for a change. {Silverskin Armor}. When you got one lich equipped to it and have another copy enter the battlefield, put it on the armored lich.
