I've been thinking about using this in my fairy deck to control and landlock my opponents. It seems annoying but it's
{cloud of faeries}+{mistbind clique}+{deadeye navigator}
Have the {mistbind clique} champion the faeries then soul bond deadeye to the mistbind clique. Voila. Free tapping of opponents lands. I think it'd work for multiplayer too.
That is pretty messed up dude! Lol, awesome though.
Haha thanks. I almost don't wanna run it in my meta because I know my friends will get mad and gang up on me in FFA. Lol
Couldn't your opponent preempively tap there lands for the mana anyway?
I don't understand. The land tapping ability isn't an ETB thing. How does the navigator's blink keep this up?

He keeps chAmpioning with the other fairy.
Ohhh.
I would tap the lands during upkeep or drawstep. They can preemptively tap their lands but they can't play anything but instants.
And I have to champion a fairy when {mistbind clique} ETB or I sac it. When mistbind is exiled with {deadeye navigator} the cloud of faeries that was previously championed comes into play>untaps 2 lands> mistbind comes back to champion the faeries when it ETB. Rinse and repeat as needed.
Good combo just expensive.
This may sound like a stupid question but does the mana pool empty after each phase or at the end of turn? Bc that would make this combo obselete.
Mana now empties at the end of each STEP.
Nice combo

Honestly didn't know that. Thanks Jester! Lol

I used to use {mishra's helix} in my elfball deck to lockdown lands if I had to, otherwise tapping permanents/lands would be useless. Land control outside of {stasis} obviously.
And yea, it's expensive but I play a lot of multiplayer so it doesn't really matter that it's so "slow". I'd never use this in a duel because it'd only be useful by turn 7-8 IF I got enough land. Lol

Yeah, it was a fairly recent change, I'm pretty sure it was when they removed mana burn.

That's great to know when I play my land destroy deck. Slimey closet is gunna have fun.
I'm pretty sure even with mana burn from back in the day that mana emptie after each step. It just doesnt "burn" you anymore.

You used to be able to float mana from step-to-step, until the end of the phase. I don't remember when that changed, though.

I believe it changed with M10 Core Set/Alara Block?
