Title: Casual
Post by: peepew on June 26, 2012, 03:22:27 AM
People at my shop get so butthurt that I play casual against them why does everyone have to only play standard. If you have the card why not play it or at least bring a casual deck with you. Idk it just annoys me any opinions ?

Casual decks tend to run really fast or combo heavy or overpowered. People enjoy standard because it gives them a measure of safety in that they know all the cards that could be around, and know they don't have to worry about counterspell and lightning bolt and such.

So don't get mad if they don't wanna play casual and get mad; it's like no one wanting to fight you because you brought a gun to a knife fight. Be nice!

True, but only to a certain extent. Casual decks are quite often made for fun not for winning. Say, I used to have this silly infinite mana myr deck, it's out of standard now but it's not really strong or anything, just fun.

I agree with this... I haven't built a casual deck to win in over a year.

Same here I don't build decks for winning

(actually I do)... But if it isn't fun it gets locked up in the middle of my op safe that isn't fun for me and others

I think we all build decks to win, with the exception of Group Hug decks. But the priority for some of us is "doing something cool" and not winning at all costs. Different strokes...

Hehehehe

I hate playing against "Mother May I?" decks (AKA permission, control/counter), or resource denial (discard, LD) but I won't bitch about it.  That's the game.  (Well, I won't bitch to their faces,  ;))

I'm working on a multiplayer version of TurboFog.  It'll be less annoying than 1v1, since they can just attack someone else.

Whenever I say I have casual decks everyone's responses are that they have edh, standard, legacy, or a draft. Ive done my casual decks against good sport edh decks and had fun, and some legacy decks with surprising results. I've had too many times where I've just left because nobody is willing to play a casual deck
