Title: Revenge of the hunted
Post by: MTG Addiction on June 26, 2012, 02:29:16 AM
When revenge is hard casted or played as miracle, does the counters have to be put out to a target immediately, or anytime before the attack takes place?

 {Revenge of te Hunted}

Its a sorcery so you would have to do it on your first main phase (draw phase if u miracled it).

Btw its not counters, just a buff. Trust me theres a difference

This. You do have to select which creature recieves the benefit immediately though when Revenge of the Hunted is cast.

I believe that the ruling is you must play it right away for its miracle cost as soon as you draw it. That's how judges have ruled it I believe.

I believe the card you are referring to is {Blessings of Nature}. And yes the rule applies kinda liked tapped mana. If you only distribute 2 counters. The others are lost when the phase is over. Not the turn, etc. the phase. They must go on after the spell resolves.

Correct

702.92a Miracle is a static ability linked to a triggered ability (see rule 603.10). "Miracle [cost]" means "You may reveal this card from your hand as you draw it if it's the first card you've drawn this turn. When you reveal this card this way, you may cast it by paying [cost] rather than its mana cost."

702.92b If a player chooses to reveal a card using its miracle ability, he or she plays with that card revealed until that card leaves his or her hand, that ability resolves, or that ability otherwise leaves the stack.

The counters are all placed when the spell resolves.  When you cast it, you decide which creatures are going to get counters.  Then when it resolves, you decide how many counters each creature will get.  Each creature must get at least one, but if you had two targeted creatures then you can put 2 on each or 3 on one and 1 on the other.  You must get out all 4 at the time it resolves, though.
