Title: Fiend Hunter gets 2 creatures?
Post by: Willthomjr on June 25, 2012, 12:41:12 PM
{fiend hunter} + {cloudshift} allows you to steal 2 creatures correct? Can someone explain how this works? Thanks.

Scenario is it's t4 and my opponent casts fiend hunter and then cloudshifts it right away.

No when you cloud shift fiend hunter the exiled creature comes back

This is what I thought, but apparently something with the stack is involved since fiend hunter has an etb effect

Well then how does it work to exile a creature perminatly?

I was seeing people cloudshift a creature that had a creature already exiled with it, and it didn't come back.

What is the ruling for this?

it works when you fiend hunter enters the battlefield his exile trigger goes up. with the trigger on the stack cloudshift him. now his return trigger and another exile trigger are on the stack. the return trigger returns bothing for nothing has been exiled. then you exile one creature which can be returned and then another one permanently.

You're learning, though.  Don't worry about it.  :)

So I can exile two creatures by cloudshifting a fiendhunter

How about if I use conjurer's closet

You can exile two by targeting one with fiend hunter, but before it resolves you cloudshift it and target another creature.

I don't think so. Since closet happens at the end of the turn. It works with cloud shift because of the stack. And don't worry, you'll eventually get the hang of things :P
