Opponent has {mirran crusader} in play and I cast {ball lightning} and then {assault strobe}......the creatures will kill each other on the first strike. My question is will they go to the gy before they can do the second strike? If they do not then my {ball lightning} gets another 6 trample dmg is why I ask

Yes, the damage done in the first damage step will kill both creatures. Neither will be alive to do their second round of damage.
I R thought so thx for confirming
I know, it's a shame. 😪
{Ball Lightning} and {Assault Strobe} is pretty sweet.
It's ok the opponents {mirran crusader} was mine :) play testing two decks. Another question....let's say opponent has a 1/1 and I attack with a 1/1 double strike....his creature blocks and dies on first strike....does my creature deal the second strike to the opponent?

Only in the case of trample. All creatures without trample that are blocked deal no combat damage to players.
How exactly does double strike interact with trample?
Need to know for my exalted deck.
Think of combat like guys running around with hammers. Once blocked they will swing that hammer at the blocker (even if the blocker dissapears, they'll then swing and hit nothing).
Trample is like a gun with a bullet for each point of damage and if te blocker moves or dies in the process before all the bullets are spent then the bullets fly at the player. Double strike plus trample is like an extra magazine. Shoot dude, shoot dude, shoot dude, oh it died, shoot player, reload, shoot player, shoot player, shoot player. (ex 4/4 double strike trample vs 3/3 blocker)
3/3 dies in first hit 1 damage caries over and then the 4/4 hits them for the full damage second time
Edit: the bullet example is how I was tought to handle double strike as well lol it's a decent reference point

The person controlling the crusader will take 4 trample damage correct? Since they both have first strike and the crusader is a 2/2.
