I can't seem to do well at fnm at all. I know I'm new and don't have a lot of money to spend on cards but my deck is solid and ramps really well I just can't catch a break. I'm honestly thinking about just hanging it up and just play drafts everyonce and awhile 😒
Do drafts so you can better understand cards and how they work or build a pro deck on cockatrice and keep testing until you think you understand how the deck works. For example, in a pod deck you want to pod into {Huntmaster of the Fells} not casting any spells pass turn and let him flip then the next turn cast two of your smaller guys
I absolutely love drafting, far more than competitive constructed formats. I don't know If you've done drafts or not, but I highly recommend them. I feel that drafting makes you a better player - learn all the cards and how how everything interacts with each other, with much more variety.
I don't know what the group at your FNM is like, but if they are like mine, they will always be wiling to lend you some advice, everything from deck construction, to drafting tips, to card info. Talk to folks!

Man I've been playing for like 15 yrs, out of all those years I've only won like 5 tournaments and only in the last year did I win even those. Don't get discouraged and let winning keep you in the game.
When I first started, and when I came back into magic I was exactly like you.
I just couldn't win with a deck, I thought, was very solid. Unfortunatly it didn't fit the meta.
If you draft or buy random packs you'll get some good stuff. If not trade fodder for better cards.
I suggest trying to find a sealed event like the prereleases like the m13 one coming next month. It's like 25$ usually but you get 6 packs!! That will help immensely. Plus if you win you get more packs!!

Only five?!?! I have never won a tourney! I've come in the top six probably 6 or 7 times though...
Draft keeps me interested. I love coming up with new deck Ideas and draft allows for that More so than standard (too many t1 decks ruin home brew).
Winning and losing is a part of any game. You can always practice standard or any game online (cockatrice and mtgo)
I have my deck list up on here I just don't know what I should do to change it and make it better. I love te game it is just disheartening when I keep getting my face stomped. Is cockatrice free? Cause I know mtgo isnt
