it works like {earthquake} except instead if players it says planeswalkers.

Well that is lame.....I would prefer earthquake then since you can always just redirect damage from the player to their PW.  I guess it would be good against a super friends deck but still.

not necessarily, if the opponent has multiple planeswalkers you get additional value out of the card.

and with earthquake even if you controlled a planeswalker yourself when you cast earthquake, damage couldn't be redirected to it.

magmaquake : damages multiple opposing planeswalkers+
does not damage you+

earthquake:damages the opponent +
will hurt you-
can potentially only damage one planeswalker-

Right that is why I said its good against super friends.
