Title: Gamer honesty
Post by: Leviathan on June 19, 2012, 01:59:41 AM
What popular video game could you not get into?

Personally I could not get into Skyrim. It felt very much like Oblivion with better graphics. The story didn't grab me and fighting dragons was very anti-climactic. I thought I was a total hype machine.

Your turn!

I second this. I played WOW for almost 4 years and after playing that rpg's just don't do it for me anymore because how diverse wow is.

I did love mass effect games.

Never really liked any of the newer CoD games... any real war shooters now kind of suck because of all the highly experienced players... :( but halo is fun for me because of the different style of multiplayer gameplay.

I can say with complete honesty that the only CoD game I played was world at war and only played the story. Also, I could never get into any sports game besides madden. Sports games are so unrealistic and so annoying and repetitive.

On that note, I am a HUGE rpg person. Almost 99.9 percent of the games I own are rpg. I love borderlands! I love mass effect!! I love transformers war for cybertron!!!! All of which had/have games coming out this year! I am so excited for August 28 and September 25!!!!

Couldn't get into Fallout 3. I love Oblivion and Skyrim, but i just couldn't play Fallout.

Also, Mass Effect was one of my most favorite games I've ever played. I stopped after character creation in the second one.

Play 2 and 3. They are both worth it. Trust me. Very good storyline.

I hate to agree with you here... But 12 wasn't that good, I don't count 11, and 13 didn't feel right. It was fun, but it felt so not like a Final Fantasy. By the way, 9 owns all :3

7 WAS my favorite until it became.the posterchild for fanboys. Now it is either 2 or 6.

I JUST finished 13 two nights ago.  I really had to muscle through because it was so mind-drippingly linear and boring.

I grew up on FF series, so I love FFIV, VI, VII, IX, and X.  Not in that order.

I still put VII as my fav because I don't give two snits that others like it to.  They should, it was awesome on it's own merit.  X was great, loved the characters and stuff.  IV and VI are in my heart for nostalgia sake, but I don't think newer players will see much appeal by today's standards.  They move pretty slow.

Planning to finish re-releases of III and V, but it'll be tough slogging.  I don't know if I will ever finish VIII.  It drives me up the wall!  Stoopid Draw!

By-the-by, I just thought I'd let you guys know that I hold an open invitation to Draft magic with the boys at Bioware (Mass Effect).  Just sayin'.   8)

I could not for the life of me play metal gear solid. I played the first one on playstation when i was a kid. Thats the only one ive liked. The story is to long if u skip one of there 30 min long animations your lost for the rest of the game. Im just not patent enough for them.
And also resident evil, 4 was ok. The rest are unplayable for me.

Just so everyone knows, I understand how grueling 13 was

But 13-2 is a JOY to play, I think it's the first step in the right direction since 10 in a lot of ways. The only thing you have to get over is the vague time travel plot holes lol

But gameplay and freedom to move about is amazing

And on that note I never really could get into WOW

I always was happy with ragnarok online

Though I'll prolly get into gw2

And halo... It's story after 2 was so convoluted and annoying.i only played for the multiplayer.

Also about your problems with 8 jester. Just draw enough for 3 characters to use every spell. 99 three times it's worth it once you have it filled because its easy to just get a lil more, and draw every spell 99x3 it'll be worth it for the stats long term, makes the game go by like cake and fast to, so tha the leveling system is in your favor

THAT'S WHY I HATED IT!!   >:(  As a collector, I had to sit in front of every new monster and draw...draw...draw.. while it pummels on me.  The rare, really good spells were from the infrequent bosses.  So, what should have been epic (and I'm trying to use this term sparingly but I think it's appropriate here) boss fights, are just me sitting on my controller, hoping I have enough potions and such to stand around and draw...draw...draw...draw... otherwise, i don't know when I'll get to draw Ultima again(or whatever big spell there is, since I didn't get more than halfway)

I can't NOT go for 99s on everything, my compulsion for completion made the game Le Suck.  IMHO, but I feel I'm not alone on this.  To much "fidgeting" or "optimizing" micromanagement of the leveling system.

And there is about half of why I despise 8. The Draw system just didn't work. That, and the damn car -.- Got stuck in the middle of nowhere, not because of creatures or a Boss, but because of my lack of overworld transportation. Friggin' 8

All that, and friggin' Tom Cruise being the main character.   >:(

Love FF series. I have them all on some format or another. And I have to agree, past X they got bad. X2 was entertaining but the end sucked, 9 was ok, 8 was created by a retarded monkey, 7 was Epic until is became fanboy fodder. All the old S/NES were a blast. For me X had the best ending of them all, just beautiful. US 2 & US 3 hold a special spot for me, spent way too much of my your playing them over and over and over.

Well here's my thing, I played 8 for completion in succession of the playstation ff games. And I must say I absolutely hated it, I couldn't stand it or anything about it. Now let's flash forward 11 years

As of last year I've decided to make it my agenda to try and play through all of the ff in order as fast as possible. Now after both kingdom hearts game I had gotten a different perspective of squall and wanted to give it a legitimate shot because honestly it was super overshadowed by 7/9

In any case maybe it was because I was more mature now, or maybe because I can handle myself much more "1337" in rpg terms. But I rolled the s--t out of it, and since I really had no trouble because my early stat gains I was able to understand the story and I completely fell for Leon and Rinoas love story, I really didn't care about anything else, but I found I actually was able to appreciate the whole Laguna sidestorys instead of hating them. I don't know why I enjoyed this playthrough so much but I just really did.

I mean I cakewalked ultima and omega

But I really like how in the PSN DLC version they change Leon's default from squall to Leon that was impressive

Sanitized for impressionable minds.

Oops totally didn't realize I swore, nice save. In any case I look at KH like this, it's got it's very "Mickey mouse" parts, but on that same token it's got it's very "square enix" parts as well, and tbh the whole game is boss as a whole, I think that the beginning struggled in both, but after you get out of the intro on the second its just plain gold and the first one Is pretty Legit all the way around.

Without spoiling, working with
Jack sparrow (potc)
Jack skellington (tnbc)
And lots of cameos in one universe totally makes this game rediculous.

Leons a ba
Clouds a ba
Sephiroth is a ba

And other famous faces

But the best part is in two and hades revives "the strongest undead warrior"
To fight you

I won't spoil but it made my freaking life that they put that much thought into it, if you want to know pm me

I really didn't like Mass Effect 2.  I loved 1 and 3, but 2 just seemed unnecessarily repetitive and boring IMO.  I was 2 or 3 missions from the end and I couldn't even finish it.

I FREAKING LOVE KINGDOM HEARTS!!!!! I can't believe I didn't mention this sooner!!!! It is a very well put game. Yea, it's Disney and some kiddy stuff. But this game has all the important parts of an RPG and excellent fighting style to it. And the worlds you go to make you relive your childhood. Honestly, definately one of the best video game series ive ever played. And the DS and PSP games are good too. (chain of memories was....ehhh)

I felt like mass effect 3 was a bit of a ripoff. I mean 2 discs for a game I finished in 2 days? And it's not like the multiplayer was all that complex. And such a small team. I didn't even love the members. I found it disappointing. I want my hours and weeks of new discovery. But that's my opinion.
