Title: App Crashfest
Post by: Coffee Vampire on June 14, 2012, 12:09:01 PM
This morning I pressed the IMTG app on my ipod and it showed the deck builder screen empty and then crashed. I tried it again and again. Closing the app, turning off my ipod, etc. but it would always crash in 2 seconds. It was not frozen though; I pressed the "iMtG" button right when I oppened it to go back to the home screen and it worked, but crashed in the same amount of time.

I deleted the app and re-installed it. Now it works fine like usual. But this may be something to look into.

Certainly, but not enough data ;)

I find that it crashes on me more often when searching the database to add cards to my collection.  I'll start typing the name of a card and the app will crash.  This will happen about 4 or 5 times then work fine for a few minutes before acting up again.

I'm loving this app and not regretting the full purchase, and this crashing is the only issue I've come across.

If it comes down to uninstalling/re-installing, I just hope I can get back all the work I've done on it so far.

Coffee's problem was different than yours, no need to reinstall.

I could try a reinstall to see if it fixes the problem.  I've backed everything up to my Dropbox.  But I think that is a last resort kinda thing.

Again, loving the app.  Great Job!

To be honest I have experienced both of your issues.

First thing I do try is close the amount of things running in the background. The camera & picture programs being the biggest culprit of memory hog, well for me anyway.

If that doesn't work (more for coffee's problem) I will often do a non-gracefull reboot of the device. (Holding the home key and top button)

Further to that, if its severe enough I submit reports to the man himself. (Usually things that are fixed in the next release anyway)

I have only had to re-install twice. (Once when my I couldn't recover my backup/restore, and once when I had the hanging update from AppStore error)

I too am having this problem, but am unable to hit any buttons before it crashes.

If I reinstall will I lose all of my decks?

Backup to Dropbox in Settings -> Database Maintenance.

I'm sorry- I don't see that anywhere.  I've looked in my iPhone setting (where it lists all of your apps) and in Dropbox.  I can't look in iMtG because it crashes before I can hit any buttons.

Then backup data in iTunes. Apple support pages should have more details, should you need any.
