Title: Tokens of a different colour
Post by: russellalbert on June 11, 2012, 04:04:33 AM
I know I can only have cards that match my commanders colour or that are colourless, but if I have an artifact generating green or white tokens is that legal?

The rule is that you can't include cards in your deck that don't match your commander's colors and you can't produce mana of a color not included by your commander. Tokens aren't really cards included in your deck, so they kind of ignore it all as they live in exile-land waiting for a card to call them into existence.

So as long as that artifact doesn't require a colored cost to activate that you can't pay because you can't produce that type of mana, yes, you can bring those tokens into play.

And even if it has a color cost you can't pay for, there are ways around it ({mycosynth lattice})
