Title: MtG drinking game
Post by: Danielkix on June 07, 2012, 08:58:53 PM
A few months ago me and some friends were playing magic and it ended up becoming a drinking game for the night with us taking a drink everytime one of our creatures died. We want to try playing again, any thoughts on rules for what would make us take a drink?

Whenever you are brought down 5 life. Attacking with the whole crew, chump blocking, spells that target a player te targeted player drinks, mana burn, dicarding cards, playing more than 2 spells a turn, spells with flashback drinking is an additional cost, if your creature dies, if you gain life you can opt out of drinking the next time you would.

Edit: Shouldn't this be in the games board?

I think the only word you need to get drunk is tap

In a multiplayer game, there's a rule I just made up called "protection of the holy liquor"

This rule says that if you kill a player, you must chug a set amount of liquor (amount agreed upon before match starts). If you cannot finish drinking within a set amount of time, that player survives; all damage that would be dealt to him is prevented, all spells that would cause him to lose the game are exiled, etc.

Just make a deck with lots of {reverberate}, {increasing vengeance}, etc. and {ashnod's coupon}.

That wouldn't work. The coupon is an artifact and you must sacrifice to use its ability. Plus it's an ability. Increasing vengeance and reverberate only copy instants and sorceries, not abilities.

60x {Ashnod's Coupon}

1x {Bribery}

done

Again no. Ashnods coupon is an artifact, not a creature or artifact creature. Bribery could not search for it.

Bribery searches an opponents library

Bribery according to the oracle text:

Search target opponents library for a CREATURE card and put it on the battlefield under your control. That player then shuffles his or her library.

True, however, I believe proph is suggesting those cards for your own deck

I love this idea!  I think you could go two directions with it, specific drinking decks, or rules for drinking:
-Whenever a player taps or untaps their land with their dominant (right) hand, they drink

-taking >5 damage from one source, drink. >10, two drinks

-getting milled for >5, take a drink

-putting a creature >5 power, give a drink

-having >5 creatures in play, give a drink

Was I right about the cards rulings though on the two previous suggestions, oh great Jester?

Sure, but I think people were missing The point of Proph's suggestion. Also, his deck couldn't even CAST {Bribery}.

Ive done this before...

Everytime a card goes into a graveyard take a drink

Everytime you draw an extra card give a drink

Everytime you say the word "tap" take a drink

Pay 2 life opt out of taking a drink

Gain 2 life take a drink (sorcery speed only)

Everytime someone discards a card due to clean-up step Everyone takes a drink.

Whenever you counter a spell take a drink.

Whenever you play 3 spells in one turn give a drink.

Whenever a player dies/loses a game that player gives 5 drinks diveded as they choose

Whenever a player kills another play that player gains protection from drinking.

Whenever a player is targeted by 2 spells from 2 different opponents that player gives 2 drinks to each player whom targeted them (this includeds themselves)

These are what my friends and I play with and we use beer lol. Its really funny by 5th or 6th turn. You get a lot of "ill pay 2 life to not drink" lol

Btw the protection from drinks only lasts until the end of turn. You can adjust the numbers however you want. Our group is of 6 players so the numbers are adjusted for our group :)
