So here's the situation, I have {Ajani Goldmane} out and I have {Grand Abolisher} with two +1/+1 counters on him making him a 4/4. My opponent plays {Evil Twin} and copies GA. During my turn I bump up {Grand Abolisher} to 5/5 with {Ajani Goldmanes} -2 ability and I attack. He blocks with his Evil twin and he thinks his is a 5/5 also but evil twin reads upon entering the battlefield copy a card. My creature was a 4/4 when he copied. My creatures killed his. He did not agree but went along with it. Just checking to see if I was right
Actually I believe his copy would be a 2/2.....I don't think he gets to keep the counters......{evil twin} is copying the card not anything attached to the creature. Imagine if you had a {spirit mantle} on the creature....the evil twin copy would not have a {spirit mantle} as well.
706.2. When copying an object, the copy acquires the copiable values of the original object's characteristics and, for an object on the stack, choices made when casting or activating it (mode, targets, the value of X, whether it was kicked, how it will affect multiple targets, and so on). The "copiable values" are the values derived from the text printed on the object (that text being name, mana cost, color indicator, card type, subtype, supertype, expansion symbol, rules text, power, toughness, and/or loyalty), as modified by other copy effects, by "as . . . enters the battlefield" and "as . . . is turned face up" abilities that set characteristics, and by abilities that caused the object to be face down. Other effects (including type-changing and text-changing effects), status, and counters are not copied.
He's right, he would only get a 2/2 {Grand Abolisher}.
So say I have an eldrazi leveler like {Student of Warfare} and I've reached level 7 and my opponent pulls {Evil Twin}. Does he get all the work I did or does his copy start at level 0?
I believe the levels would be considered as un-transferable status, thus he gets a level 0 not 100% though...great question
Correct again. The copy would have all of the characteristics written on the card. It doesn't get any counters unless the original came onto the battlefield with them. Any counters added later are not copiable.
Thanks for the help fellas
