Title: Morphic tide & fiend hunter
Post by: Darthaggro on June 06, 2012, 11:18:53 PM
Me and a friend were playing a planes chase game and it was really fun up until he had a fiend hunter enter the field at the same time my Sara angel did. Basically I'm asking if his fiend hunters ability would resolve since both our creatures entered at the same time would fiend hunters ability resolve due to both of them entering at the exact same time

Sorry this is really long

they enter at the same time. now that they've entered fiend hunter triggers. effect targets. effect resolves.

Wouldn't this be an example of APNAP? The active player (current player's turn) spell will go on stack first, then the opponent's spell. So if its your turn, the {Fiend Hunter} will resolve first. Then your {Serra Angel}(?) will resolve.

If they're re-entering the battlefield, they're not being cast. Since they're not being cast, the only APNAP preference that would occur is if any creature other than just the {Fiend Hunter} has an ETB effect.

To answer the OP's question, the hunter's ability would go on the stack after both creatures enter the battlefield (if they are entering at the exact same time). This means you would be able to target any other creature who entered the battlefield or were currently there.

Edit: HE would choose a creature to target for the hunter's ability, since you said it was his.

OP here. Sorry not to explain the situation. They entered at the same time due to Morphic tide. I heard since they both entered at the same time fiend hunters ability would fall off the stack immediately. But it seems his ability would still resolve.

It's the same reason as when someone pulls out two {glimmerpost} with {primeval Titan} and gains 2 life from each

The fiend hunter has to physically enter the BF in order for the trigger to happen.  Therefore your Serra Angel will already be on the BF before the fiend hunters ability resolves.....making the angel a valid target for the fiend hunter. 🔨
