This is the thread where we will spitball our ideas for a community EDH deck! Any real ideas/ improvements are welcome! I imagine this thread will become pretty lengthy, so if you're reading this, please make sure your idea hasn't already been mentioned before you post!
As our first order of business, I think we should decide whether we are making a competitive EDH deck or one that is just tons of fun to play. Or better: both!
Let the games begin!
I say 5 color. To make the combos more available and have more options.
{child of Alara}?
Hey I said I'd make this

Sure! I think there would be plenty of shenanigans to pull with all five colors at our disposal. Is this competitive?

I've never played with it. But played against it.
It can get pretty nasty. Get her out. Whipe the board, then play mill or Reanimation. I think it is a great idea.
{colationvictory}
I think reanimation would be a lot of fun, but this IS a communitive effort, so
What does everyone else think?
How do I post a card

How do I post a card
All you have to do is put the brackets around the card name! :) the squiggly ones, that is.

{colationvictory}
That's an idea. It might be worth putting in, but in order for it to work you have to have one of every color at the same time. If you can get that card and have enough control over the battlefield to use it, then sure, we could put it in. Let's see if it'll work with our overall plan.
To help with the victory card {conflux}
{progenitus} ?

{progenitus} ?
A bit costly, especially if it's followed by a boardwipe. But a good option!
I thought it couldn't be board wiped, my mistake.
{command tower} ?

{progenitus} ?
Yes. They say it's costly.
{unburial rites} win.

As well. Don't forget about the flashback though. :D if we make it a Reanimation deck.

{progenitus} ?
This guy has my vote!! Pro everything works for me
Btw. If anyone has a {Child of Alara} for trade, I'll trade good for it.
Should have normal stuff like {sol ring}
Not to rain on the parade but {Coalition Victory} is banned in commander.
Everything else so far is good though, and fun. Child of alara is a nasty commander. And I love Progenitus, but sadly he dies a lot in EDH because of the mass abundance of board wipes.

Thank you for the input and reminder!
Are we set on Child as our General? Five-color reanimator sounds good. I also think that if we're running all five colors we should run crazy control. I don't want my opponents to do anything with this deck, but feel free to give dissenting opinions.
If you want control, you need {beguiler of wills} and obviously {Frost Titan}
{Mutavault}
{Blinkmoth Nexus}
Those are my contributions
{mana leak}
{silence}
{orim's chant}
{dungeon Geist}
Maybe {isochron scepter}?

{sheoldred, whispering one} (obviously )
{daze}
{spell pierce}
{black sun's zenith}
{spell crumple}
{cancel}
{dissipate}
{prismatic omen}
{green sun's zenith}
{autumn's veil}
{liliana vess}
Why daze?
Daze is a counterspell. :P I'm pretty sure he came up with that list off the top of his head.
As for the reanimator portion (I'm assuming that's what we're deciding on), what do we need to put in?
Should we work on some combos?

Eldrazi could come in handy being stomps with easy cards like unburial rights.

Yeah! Always enough room for an Eldrazi or two. :)
But for someone who isn't familiar with reanimator and the common cards that go in it (guilty), could you shed some light?
Animate dead, unearth, unburial rights, and reanimate are all required.
I can't think of the name that makes you search your library for a creature makes you put it in the graveyard, but we need that too.
{buried alive} would be good.

I believe it's {Entomb}?
And sure, so you throw fatties in the graveyard then get them back.
{Phyrexian delver}
{Resurrection}
{Corpse connoisseur}
{Beacon of unrest}
{entomb} {exhume} {reanimate}
Can we make a list of what we have and want to put in so far so I know exactly? Instead of just saying random cards.

I can put it into the deck-builder and then post it in a new thread, if you want.

If you want to do that, that's fine. I don't have the upgrade so I wouldnt be able to.
Sorry to stick my nose in here, but you can't reanimate {Progenitus} without a sneaky way of getting it in your gy without it reshuffling back in.
Also, if the Child dies, does it hit the gy before going back to the Command Zone, or is it a replacement effect? I know you can choose whether or not to put it in CZ, but I'm not up on my EDH rulez.

You can choose weather or not you want your commander to ever go to the graveyard. Therefor, if you choose to put him back to the command zone. It never touched the graveyard.

I thought so. Seems like sort of a drawback for {Child of Alara} then, doesn't it? I guess it lets you decide if you want to blow up the board or not...
Well. Flicker could work. Whipe the board. Bring crazy stuff out. Child is still out. Blast them. Whipe the board. Rinse and repeat.
I've managed to build a 5 colour EDH, and in hindsight, you'd probably have better luck keeping it simple. Like kavu's, atog's, myr, and slivers. The combos are effective, numerous and cheap and you can still include your reanimate ideas. Ultimately, you can ruin a deck by making it too complex. Simple and effective is tough to beat.
{atogatog}
{Sliver Queen}
Wow. No slivers or atogs. Horrible idea.
