This is a nice list. R/w is explosive when it turns on. Only change I'd make is adding {silver blade paladin} (nothing is more of a slap in the face then dropping this guy leaving him unpaired only to zealous next turn and pair with your opponents creature!) and or {Mirran crusader} of course.

I like using {lightning mauler} with the paladin though! It's awesome!

Not so sure about that.... If the paladin isn't paired zealous comes down steals a creature. That creature has just entered the battlefield under your control hence it should be able to be paired to the paladin. End of turn the stolen creature goes back leaving the paladin ready to be paired again.
