Title: Planeswalkers
Post by: Drbusta50 on November 22, 2011, 07:09:53 AM
Fairly new to the game, can you have more than one planeswalker on the battle field with a different name say like a Sorin and a Ajani?

Yes...
Planeswalkers Works just like legends.....you can only have ONE of each on the battlefield....you can put for example {Karn Liberated}, {Ajani Goldmane} and {Chandra Ablaze} at the same time at the battefield...
BUT...you cannot put another one of them....that includes the variant of them....for example:

If you have {Chandra Ablaze} at the battefield and you cast {Chandra Nalaar}, they both die. Even tho they are different cards, they are the same Planeswalker type (Chandra) so you cannot have them both at the same time on the battefield.
Also, you have to remember that they are not creatures so you cannot attack with them. They are like new players but with some restriction.
If a spell would deal damage to everyone on the table and it's creatures, it doen't affect the planeswalkers. The only way to take em out is to attack them directly with your creatures or use a spell that has "target player" on it....

Hope that will take your doubts about it =)

That's good news. I was told only one planeswalker is allowed no matter what.

Yeah...i thought so too..but after countless hours of discussion on salvation foruns i learned this....if you don't put 2 of the same...it's legal....i don't know if you can have more of one of the same on the deck tho....
would be nice to know that....

Unless you are playing a special format like Commander/EDH, you can have up to four of any card.  Some formats have banned and restricted lists.

Pretty much just casual so I can still have four copies of sorin and four of Ajani but only play one of each at a time right?

Correct!

In fact, if you look back to decks made around Lorwyn block, people were making decks with nothing but planeswalkers and {Rings of Brighthearth}.

Yeah I wish. I was only making an example. I only own a {Ajani}, {sorin}, {sarkhan the mad}, and {liliana vess}.
