Title: Emblems?
Post by: Achgook on May 25, 2012, 11:27:04 PM
I have a feeling this should be under rules but not positive, if so sorry whomever moves everything, I was just curious but if you pop of tamiyos last ability to get the emblem, is it considered a permanent or can it not be targeted by anything until the end of the game?

Emblems last still the end of game. They exist in the "command zone", which isnt the battlefield. Quick read of the rules tells ya everything:

113. Emblems
113.1. Some effects put emblems into the command zone. An emblem is a marker used to represent an object that has one or more abilities, but no other characteristics.
113.2. An effect that creates an emblem is written "[Player] gets an emblem with [ability]." This means that [player] puts an emblem with [ability] into the command zone. The emblem is both owned and controlled by that player.
113.3. An emblem has no characteristics other than the abilities defined by the effect that created it. In particular, an emblem has no name, no types, no mana cost, no color, and no expansion symbol.
113.4. Abilities of emblems function in the command zone.
113.5. An emblem is neither a card nor a permanent. Emblem isn't a card type.

Emblems can't be stopped or destroyed, or erased. No cards reference emblems, so nothing can interact with them.

The triggered abilities of emblems can still be responded to and countered by specific cards like {Stiffle}, though.

Would it only be countered for a turn or permanently?

I think he meant using it on the planeswalker creating the emblem.

Emblems don't exist, and {Stifle} says target. Once they're created it's over.

he's also referring to koth and venser's emblems which create activated abilities or triggers which go on the stack.

I gotcha now.

Everyone just wait for the mythic rare that enters the command zone, it will happen someday.
