Title: Help, imtg family!
Post by: SpiritedAway on May 20, 2012, 04:27:43 AM
So me and my roommate and best friend just started playing commander and im playing {Zur, The Enchanter} and he's playing {Thraximundar}.

Overall, I'm destroying him every single time! This is good for me, but he has lost a lot of interest in commander because of it.

What can I do?/What can he do?

Should I find a different commander for playing with him or can he make his good enough to compete?

Ha! This happened to me too! I use {Olivia Voldaren} and my freind uses {Rafiq of the Many}. It's really fun for me, but he has only won once!

Switch commanders and help him

Some matchups are better than others. I'd say out together another deck.  And try to avoid "Thrax-hate". 😁

I agree with jester.

You can have a competitive deck, but when a friend is playing a casual deck it's no fun.

Try putting together a more casual deck so it can be fun for the both of you!

If you want to let him win some, swap decks and let him play yours.

But the best answer is to make a 2nd deck. Enchant decks like Zur and {Uril the Miststalker} can be frustrating to play against if your own deck doesn't have the answers for them, especially if you're playing 1-on-1.

Commander is best as a multiplayer format also, if you're playing 1-on-1, I recommend adding 2 or 3 people to the mix, that's when EDH gets silly and super fun. Lots of laughs.
