I think you could do better than the schollar.
Personally I like {spellskite} but pretty much anything to keep your other more critical guys up is important.

note. mono blur in standard is really bad. especially with this aggro control build.

Yeah. If you're looking for a budget Delver I'd try U/R or something. Test Subject and Scholar are pretty easy to walk all over.

You have very few chances of flipping delver, and buffing the pike. And {Dissipate} = strictly better then {Cancel}

{Dissipate} was reprinted in Innistrad. Artwork is cooler too :)

Most expensive is the set of {Sulfur Falls} and {Runechanter's Pike}. Besides that, it is an extremely capable deck.

Upgrades include {Chandra's Phoenix} or {Dungeon Geists}. {Sword of Body and Mind} ($10 card, kinda fun to play with) and any of the swords.

This is my Pre-Avacyn Restored budget delver deck (it's on page 7 or 8 by now). It's a good building point, then make it your own. Just remember the goal of flipping Delver and buffing your Pike.
