This is breaking the backup feature.
I just got a new device and would like to transfer over my backup using Dropbox.
Will you be updating to the new Ali version for Dropbox ?
No, you can still use backup feature through iTunes. So it does not break it, just limits the functionality in a significant way ;]
Yes, we have plans to implement Dropbox API V2 in the future. Please note that the future is clouded ;]

Btw. Don't you want to accept a few helper ? Fixing Dropbox API could be a nice feature that someone not too familiar with iMtG could tackle. Would help keeping the app updated while offloading you a bit.
so I transferred from iTunes, freshly backed up binders.imtgbackup and decks.imtgbackup from my old device and I tried to restore them.
Both operation makes the app crash. I guess we can add to the list of broken feature the restore of backups :( bummer.
It was fun all along.

Were you able to recover the crash logs?
