Title: Gideon
Post by: Quackmaster5 on May 09, 2012, 12:19:57 PM
I haves {Gideon Jura} and I have never used him in a deck. I want to use him bc it just seems like a waste if I don't. Can someone explain to me how his abilities work and why? And some uses for him in possible decks?

+2 is good to force their team to tap out so you can swing with your team

-2 if Gideon survives, or if you want removal, you can take out a tapped guy

0 if you cleared a path, swing with a 6/6 that can't take damage. You can't attack the same turn he entered the BF though.

Couldn't you use his +2 and then next turn use his 0 to kill all of your opponents creatures with power less than 6? Effectively tapping your opponent out and killing weaklings.

How would you do that..?

During opponents turn: +2
During opponents next turn: 0

I thought you can only activate the abilities as a sorcery. Meaning I couldn't use his 0 ability to kill off anything. That's why I'm confused why he is so good apparently when he can easily get killed if my opponent has a few creatures already.

Planeswalker abilities can only be used any time you could cast a sorcery.

He's a good addition to a mid-range control deck, with a good creature base. You can force their creatures to attack Gideon, and block whom you chose to keep your creatures alive so they can swing on the next turn.

Even if you only use his 0 ability, attach some equipment and swing (swords or silver inlaid dagger are all good)
At the very least you are attacking with a 6/6 indestructible.
Add the new angel spawning spear is also good.  :)

You have to keep reequiping every turn, but yeah, you could do that.

I'm pretty sure you could mimic him if you killed him.
