Post by: ELLERfeller on May 19, 2017, 08:50:23 AM
Is there any proactive measures we can do to stop the flood of spammers on this forum?

Do not do this please or I'll remove your banning powers. I do not want you to harm potential customers with something which is completely ineffective at reducing spam.

I don't understand, what does Wikipedia do? And why wouldn't he ban a spam account that is obviously spam?

For the same reason why banning all black people just because one killed someone is wrong.

Wikipedia uses the power of the people to delete the bad guys out.

Odd logic but I get the gist, and as far as that goes how would you do that on this forum? Neg karma all the spammers? Banning priveleges to normal users? Report each spammer?

I cleaned the IP bans which were clearly all wrong. Do not ban on wildcards nor IP addresses. You can do it only when you are acting alone and no other Hand can help you and you are overwhelmed by the same IP address. Then you can ban that address temporarily.

We prolly need more Hands, but the spammers do not get their way. Their links are broken. In due time we will launch a legal action against morons who hire the spammers.
