I absolutely hate it. I can't stand when someone sees one of your decks doing good, and decide to use it. I think part of the fun is building them yourself, so I don't like it. But what does everyone else think?
Are we talking about the whole deck being copied or copying an idea. Cause im all for copying a idea.
I love copying ideas, but people copying more than half of a deck just makes me kinda angry
It happens there are only so many combinations you can make that actually work. Now if the same person keeps only making decks copying you. You can take it two ways 1. You make good decks and he wants to be like you 2. He sucks and doesn't know what he's doing.
I mean it's not that hard to look up net decks that do well. Personally I stopped looking at the decks in this forum because I don't want to get ideas from there. But guess what I did make a gist spirit deck that everyone else made if the pulled him from packs
Unfortunately only about 50% of players create their own ideas
Different strokes, different folks. Spikes like deck copying and netdecking. Obviously not spikes
All I ever see at fnm is pro net decking. That sounds annoying though.
I'm indifferent. I usually see decks that I think that I can make better. As was mentioned earlier there are only so many combinations that are cost effective and efficient so certain cards must be used in order to make the "best" deck possible.
Somebody asked if they could copy my "I Spit on Your Graveborn" deck. I said sure, just don't use it on me. WOTC put out the prototype, I just made it better.
I think if you are so bothered by somebody using your blueprint, don't post your decks. I'd definitely be flattered when people think so much of your design that they'd want to use it.

I agree, I have played a fair amount of time (1-1 1/2 years) but sometimes I want to build a new deck and can't think of an idea, so I browse through decks, look at the basic idea, and try to make the best deck I can. But, there are only a certain amount of cards that work in a deck. I was recently looking at "Tubo Fog" decks and trying to create my own. Inevitably we have a lot of the same cards; fog effects. So if someone uses your idea, you may not like it, but at least that tells you it was a pretty good idea.
I don't mind someone copying one of my decks...I view it as a complement. ^^
And if he starts beating me with it well, I'm the one who made it; I know its weaknesses and can deal with it!
I am actually flattered when people use my decks. I spend a lot of time war gaming and tuning to my personal taste/playstyle. True to form, my decks normally work better for me than people that use them.
I love building decks, almost more than playing. I also tend to lean more on flavor than card interactions.

I like this perspective.
Some players are satisfied with whatever deck they can throw together with what cards they currently have. Other players immediately jump to what's the best so I have the best chance to win.
Different strokes for different folks.
Eventually those players will develop skills to make their own decks.
If they don't, well they will be behind the curve. What's the worry?
I always try to make my own things. Thats mainly why they suck. :D
But i do borrow ideas from people but i always give credit for combos here on the forum!
The guy that owns my card shop likes to say "build the best deck you can and play what wins" but that would mean following my local meta and playing tokens. I am sick of tokens, period. Whenever I play an fnm and someone drops a plains, I go " here comes doomed traveller". Haven't been wrong yet.

But if your local meta is playing one strat, why not play a counter-strat? Glissa+{Ratchet Bomb} for example? Or try to anticipate the impact the new set will have on the meta.
My friends and I do the same thing except we dont make the same decks. I will see a deck idea from my friend and then make a variation of my own. We rarely have the same cards in it bc he likes to make 80+ decks and I have a bigger library of cards to choose from. So we may have the same idea but totally different ways of going about the deck style
