Title: Frontier format
Post by: redwolv on December 11, 2016, 07:40:03 PM
Has anyone else heard for this format? Apparently it is m15 to current sets. And is designed to be more acessesable and less cheese compared to modern, but with out rotation like standard suffers from.

Why not just play pauper if you are looking to get into an open accessible format, lots more range in cards and deck opportunities and still affordable and without rotation.

To sum up the arguments hat have been over hashed everywhere else:

This is essentially 2 card shops attempt at creating neo-modern and regaining access to fetch lands in a non modern environment.

That's not necessarily a bad thing though, I think they're both good attempts but pauper is the more fun of the two.

No balance, stale revisits from overdominating builds (rhino, coco)

This ^^^^^
See statement about not rehashing arguments already finished elsewhere on the net.

This is a money grab that will be the next tiny leader format. Big splash, prices go up, fad dies out, meh, who cares
See I really liked tiny leader, I thought it was a fun, fast paced format that was pretty easy to get into and fairly hard to be priced out of. I had a relatively competitive deck at my lgs and I think the deck was worth around 50$ max. Only deck that I had major trouble with was  {Animar, Soul of Combos}.

i think it would be fun putting these decks against other powerful ones from recent standart and I think it would be fun to brew from these sets only  maybe it doesnt catch on as a huge format but i dont think it would be an unfun one

Problem with tiny leaders was there were 5 or less decks that could completely dominate the format, those staples shot up after the format hype began and since people didn't want to spend $100+ on a niche format deck, the format died as far as being a new regular format.

I think TL is great for teaching a new player magic, frontier feels a reason to keep playing decks that only destroyed standard.

Pending where energy goes, if it appears in future sets, a new format should start from KLD and beyond. Energy really will warp the game in the long term, and I feel other formats should bar it.

Perhaps "classic format" - cards from alpha to emn/cns 2

I also dislike how frontier does not include the special sets, which make the idea of identifying cards playable with new border not as efficient

imagine {Metallurgic Summonings} + Delve ex. {Dig Through Time}

Another reason this format was created was because it's harder to get older cards when you don't live in the US.

Until more balance mana bases are printed and we can confirm energy will be a new forever mechanic, this format will be greatly imbalanced

Like infect isn't 😂😂😂

Well it's pretty clear they keep printing cards for infect and burn and then they realize it might be a little OP

I mean become immense and another hexproofing buff in less than 2 years

Rnd doesn't care about eternal

Seems like infect hasn't gotten too many bans :)

The new black removal spell looks to be a good one, same with summary dismissal
