Title: Mean and cheep decks.
Post by: redwolv on August 15, 2016, 09:03:20 PM
One of the guys in my local play group has recently started playing a highly competitive deck during my groups casual games. This has lead to him winning nearly every game and he refuses to change to a more relaxed deck, claiming that "casual, means I can play whatever I want."

So I want to teach him a lesson by bringing a mean and unfun deck as a way to deal with him, by pulling it out only when he brings his.

Tldr;
I am looking for mean deck to use against him. I am thinking something like, maybe land destruction. Or some other, "you don't actually get to play now." A low price point is a huge plus.

If it's just casual board lock down is pretty mean, stuff like {propaganda} and {ghostly prison}

I want to focus more are single player hate if I can. as the group does 4-5 man ffa. And I would like to avoid ruining the game for the other guys.

Do you know what deck/colours his playing, as to an idea what to build against?

I feel like mono red burn could player hate in casual rather nicely, and quickly too.
I usually play mono black infect in casual as there's sometimes "that guy" in playgroups. Either that, or just don't play with them. They need to be more considerate around play testing with others.

Plenty of colour hate that could get you pretty far. We need more info on his deck.

If you play mono red burn you're easily a priority target and will have a bad time with .politics..

Recently he has been mainly using a {U}{B} zombie reanimate style deck.

As a green black reanimate player, my worst nightmare is stuff like  {Leyline of the Void},  {Rest in Peace},  {Tormod's Crypt},  {Bojuka Bog}, etc. those could potentially shut down his deck entirely depending on how reliant he is on reanimation.

{Grafdigger's cage} is also fun. >:)

There are certainly ways to get around reanimator decks, as Thefluffymacheen has pointed out. :)

{Counterspell} is always good too.

I don't think U/B zombie reanimator is that oppressive...what is he pulling out? Cause if you really wanna ruin his day {Clone} into removal is hilarious and fun.
