Title: Artifact creatures
Post by: Knew45 on April 30, 2012, 11:01:49 AM
My friend believes that artifact creatures can only be blocked by other artifact creatures. Is he correct?

No he's incorrect. Artifact creatures can just be affected by artifact destruction cards like {Ancient Grudge} or creature destruction cards like {Doom Blade}. They have the benefit and the drawback of both types. That's the main difference.

Wow!  No.  I have know idea where that might have come from.   ???

Shadow creatures ({Augur il-Vec}) can only block other shadow creatures.
Artifact creatures can block creatures with fear ({Crowd of Cinders}) or creatures with intimidate ({Brain Weevil}).
But a plain old arti critter can be blocked just like any other critter.

That is if the creature has intimidate.

702.12b A creature with intimidate can't be blocked except by artifact creatures and/or creatures that share a color with it.

If a black creature has intimidate, isn't it the same as if it had fear? I know this only works for black creatures so, why would a black creature have intimidate?

because they wanted a keyword that wasn't black specific but still worked for black

Then why did they make fear?

{Blind Seer} could make a creature with intimidate blue and block it.  Can't do that with fear.
