{invisible stalker} bonded with silverheart Is nasty

Tempted to drop {Nightshade Peddler} for that, just because it doesn't do much. Because who would you give deathtouch to? And if so, how would you trade creatures for it?

You wouldn't, or at least I wouldn't. I just think the stalker idea is better

So drop {Nightshade Peddler} for {Invisible Stalker}.

How about dropping {Wolfir Avenger} for {Somberwald Sage}? I'm worried since I'll only have 2, and it's so soft, that it won't really help me ramp much, or I won't draw it when I need to...

I'd actually make avenger a 4 of and drop the sage entirely. It's two colors so birds of paradise is enough ramp

Revised. Last revision until I actually try it out.

I like how it evolved from majority soulbond creatures...to wolfrun ramp, with a few soulbond creatures.

Just to let you know, Deathtouch + Trample means you assign one damage to a blocker and trample the rest.

9-0 in my trial run. Best of 3's against White Weenies, RW Humans, UB control, WG Angels and single match against Esper Spirits for fun. Cavern of Souls will be back in the deck, but these were all drafted.

What about the 3/1 unblockable spirit on AVR?

{latch seeker}

I swapped them for {Captain of the Mist}, much better board stall until I can bomb.

Edit: also, {Deadeye Navigator} is a monster. I wish I could find some room for him. He's indestructible.

Reign of Terror continues. Went 2-0 in 3-way magic and 1-0 in two headed giant (partner was an unmodified Solitary Fiends). {Captain of the Mist} is slightly undervalued because of his ability to check Snapcaster by tapping their land. Also, a 2/3 body for 3 mana? Like it better then {latchseeker} for this build. I am not running equipment, and 1UU might be trickier to pay for then 2U

Streak is over. U/W Delver whooped me twice, pretty decisively. {Invisible Stalker} and a token equipped with {Sword of Feast and Famine}. Second game I, believe it not, got mana screwed, and {eaten by spiders} isn't wildly good if {Delver of Secrets} has {Sword of Body and Mind}.

I wish I could say {Runechanter's Pike} wasn't worse. {Geist of Saint Traft}, and his angel has double strike (because {Silverblade Paladin} just remains unpaired) and he is a 5/2 first strike. Scoop! I can't do anything.

I can't reliably draw R, so probably stick with {naturalize}, destroys enchants as well. It would be a good sideboard, in the rare instances I get milled. Maybe "FIGHTBEAR!" ({Ulvenwald Tracker})? I have too many ideas.

{Joint Assault} has got to go though...

I like the idea of {ulvenwald tracker}

Neither to Birds or {Stormblood Berserker}s.

Wait, what's the Vanilla test?
Title: Re: Wolfsoul Ramp

Vanilla Test is how I grade creatures. They have to:
A) be vanilla (3/3 for 3, ect.)
B) have an ability that justifies having them.

Certain cards like {birds of paradise} aren't vanilla, but it's a flying body that gives you mana, can hold a sword or be buffed.

{Stormblood berserker} is almost unblockable, with potential to be 3/3 for 2. Passes.

Exceptions are always made, but it's a decent way to evaluate cards.

So you're saying you don't think the Cathar's ability, haste and removing a blocker,  justifies including him.  I think he'd be a great finisher paired with {Wolfir Silverheart}.
Title: Re: Wolfsoul Ramp
Post by: Dudecore on May 24, 2012, 02:10:12 PM
Pretty much. While his Haste ability is good, he's a 2/1, too squishy. He never really gets better. At 3 mana I need at least a 3/3, if I can't have that, then it's other abilities better blow me away.

I get a better creature at GG with {Strangleroot Geist}, he doesn't make something incapable of blocking, but has haste, cheaper and what not.

{Wolfir Avenger} is a good example, 3/3 for 3. Flash, Regenerate. I'd like to curve nicely into that.

Fair enough.  I kinda see him as a living combat trick that works well with soulbond/ETB stuff.  I guess he's better in Boros humans with {Cloudshift}.

There is not a lot of value at 3 drops with Red. {Chandra's Phoenix} perhaps? Might just leave the {Wolfir Avengers}, 1RR scares me.
