Totally true, indeed. Transform is the specific game action of turning a double sided card other-side-up. This doesn't cause it to leave the battlefield (although the flip walkers are exiled and return transformed), nor does it affect a permanent's status. (Tapped, Flipped (From Kamigawa), face up/down, phased in/out).

There are four status categories, each of which has two possible values: tapped/untapped, flipped/unflipped, face up/face down, and phased in/phased out. Each permanent always has one of these values for each of these categories.
