Hey guys, just need a quick clarification. Say I have 9 lands on the field, and I cast and {oblivion sower}. My opponent plays {clash of will} countering it unless I pay 4. Would the upon casting ability resolve before the clash of wills? If I hit an untapped land out of their deck can I use it to pay for the clash of will?
It's a triggered ability. It uses the stack. When you cast o sower, you retain priority to put it on the stack. Your opponent can at this point either let the trigger resolve, or counter sower with the exile trigger on the stack.
What this means for your lands: if your opponent lets the cast trigger resolve, you can put any exiled lands into play and use them to pay. If he casts the counter on top of the trigger, you'll get the lands after the counter has resolved.
