Title: Myriad and Wormfang Manta
Post by: DaxosReturned on November 07, 2015, 08:13:56 PM
Hi it's Daxos, I've returned.

Anyway, with the new {Blade of Selves} in commander 2015 I could potentially make 3 {wormfang manta} s in addition to the original one on the board when I declare attackers in a 4 way commander game.

I confess I am stumped in trying to figure out how to resolve the triggered abilities.

Maybe all the ETBs target the same next turn whichever it is. Then at End of Combat 3 mantas leave and thus give me 3 extra turns, but then one is cancelled? Let's call that the 3 - 1 result (2). The other way is 3 - 3 result (0).

What's the correct number of extra turns?
Does anyone know how to make this work to get a bunch of extra turns (Basically hopefully win on the spot)?

Ha! Thanks. That's not so bad.

For anyone curious, it seems the applicable law here is the one from {Magosi, the Waterveil}

"If you somehow activate Magosi's third and fourth abilities during the same turn, the effects will cancel each other out. The turn you skip is the next one you would take, which is the turn created by Magosi's fourth ability. It doesn't matter in which order the abilities resolved."

As stated, they cancel each other out. You skip your next three turns, then get three extra turns (which you then skip).
A way to get something out of it, is to use {strionic resonator}. Copy one of the "leave" triggers to get 4 extra turns. Since you skip only 3, you get an extra turn. Then do it again, and again.
On a sidenote: Myriad creates copies for each opponent that is not the defending player. In a 4 player FFA, you'll get 2 copies. Principle still applies though.

Edit: If you want to win with it, you'll have to keep two opponents alive and kill them in the same turn. With only one opponent left, myriad won't make copies.

Very nice observation!
I shall include the Resonator,
And off the top of my head, maybe a way to attack more than once in the turn, and maybe a way to untap the Resonator too.

This is madness
Cool marness :D
